Dr. Ernest graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Minor in Chemistry.
He graduated of Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA in 2004 as the first African American male to gain entry in to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
His Urology Residency was completed in the US ARMY in 2010 at Tripler to include a urologic oncology mini fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2009. He received a Meritorious Service Medal in 2010 for achieving the highest score in the country on the annual In-service examination for training urology residents.
He completed an Endourology Fellowship at UCLA in 2011 specializing in the treatment of kidney stone disease, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery. He became the lnterim Chief of UCLA Endourology 2012 before moving fuII-time back to the ARMY at Tripler Army Medical Center as staff. He obtained full board certification in 2013.
At TAMC he became the Chair of the Robotic Surgery Committee, was the second surgeon in the state of Hawaii and first surgeon at TAMC to perform pediatric robotic surgery in 2013. The first urologist in the DOD, now Department of War, to perform Single-Site Robotic Surgery in 2015; The first urologist in the DOD to complete a lntracorporal Radical Cystectomy in 2018.
He is the former Chief of the Prostate Cancer Clinic, Director of Surgical Simulation, Chief of Urology, and the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) Cancer Committee Community Outreach Coordinator.
He is a Fellow of American College of Surgeons (FACS) and former Surgical Subspecialty Advisor to the Army Central Simulation Committee.
First DOD Urologist to be a Certified Simulation Expert (CHSE). Co-Author of Army Urology Trauma ICTLs/KSAs. He has multiple research publications in laparoscopy, robotic surgery, and prostate cancer care.
He was the AUA SGSU 2023 Young Urologist of the Year. He transitioned out of the military after honorably serving for 21 years to take a position at Meritus Heath in Urology in October 2025.
