Outpatient Care & Satellite Locations

Meritus Health also operates a number of business enterprises related to outpatient health care: Meritus Medical Laboratory offers comprehensive lab service, home medical equipment and supplies are available at Meritus Equipped for Life, Meritus Medical Group manages more than 20 physician practices, Health@Work provides corporate health/rehab services and diagnostic imaging services are provided through a joint venture with Diagnostic Imaging Services.

Private practices, a very important component in our health care network here, represent most specialties and subspecialties, and ensure our patients have access to the care they need in their own community. Private practice physicians continue to enter the community bringing new skills and expanding on specialties and sub-specialties already present. In many of our practices, there are opportunities to mentor medical students, residents, advanced practice nurse students and physician assistants from universities in Maryland and the region.

Centers of Excellence

There are currently four centers of excellence within the hospital. One each for Trauma, Joint Replacement, Bariatric Surgery and Cancer. The Stroke Center, while managed by local neurologists, uses telemedicine technology to link with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to assure immediate access to a board certified neurologist 24/7. Meritus Medical Center is also designated a Cardiac Interventional Center.

Meritus Medical Center is co-located with Robinwood Professional Center, a 373,000 square foot medical mall which includes physician practices, imaging suites, laboratory suites, cancer center, rehabilitation suites, pharmacy and many other amenities.

Meritus Health employs more than 3,000 people, operates the only hospital in the county and is the largest health care provider in the region.

Meritus Medical Center is a state of the art, acute care, private, non-profit medical center, serving the tri-state region, including Western Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania, and Eastern West Virginia. Designated a Level III Trauma Center, the hospital is served by over 500 physicians, who represent more than 30 specialties. We have continually received accreditation by JCAHO and have been recognized as a Top 100 Hospital and a Most Wired Hospital several times.

Hagerstown is a family oriented, friendly community in scenic Western Maryland. Minutes from Civil War Battlefields (Antietam, Gettysburg, Monocacy and Harpers Ferry), C&O Canal (180 mile biking/walking trail), Potomac River, the Appalachian Trail and Whitetail Ski Resort. Great recreational, cultural, and historic area. Wonderful symphony and art museum, excellent schools, and affordable housing are all part of the lifestyle amenities our community has to offer. If you crave urban adventure, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Md. and Harrisburg, Pa. are an hour away. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are 3 hours away; NYC 5 hrs.

Situated between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains, Hagerstown, MD is a scenic, family-friendly community.
