New D.M. Bowman Rec Center Promotes Movement at Brook Lane

The new facility provides a place to play and exercise for all patients and students at the Laurel Hall School on campus. The facility includes a gym, sensory room and administrative offices. 

“It’s no secret that movement is part of the recipe for success,” said Carrie Adams, interim president of Brook Lane, an affiliate of Meritus Health. “That’s especially true when treating young people like those that we work with here and in Frederick.” 

Part of the funding for the project came from the Jone L. Bowman Foundation, the philanthropy organization run by the Bowman family. 

“Your unwavering presence and willingness to think big is everything we could want in a teammate,” Adams said. “And we are so proud to adorn this building with the Bowman name.” 

Meritus also invested $3 million for the project, and an additional $3 million came through the state of Maryland. 

While Brook Lane focuses on Washington, Allegany and Frederick counties, the organization serves people from across Maryland.
