Meritus opens new ear, nose and throat practice

Immediate availability for patients at Meritus Advanced ENT in the Robinwood Professional Center. 

Meritus Health is pleased to open a new practice dedicated to treating conditions of the ears, nose and throat.

The practice will be led by Nasir Bhatti, M.D., and will include Brian McKinnon, M.D. Both are board-certified physicians who will offer comprehensive ENT care for patients of all ages.

“We have the training and many years of experience at top institutions that will allow us to provide world-class care to patients,” said Dr. Bhatti, who spent the past 25 years on the ENT faculty at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. “We want to have very easy access for patients, bringing expert care close to home.

He noted that the practice also collaborates with emergency medicine, pulmonary critical care, allergy and immunology and neurosurgery.

“My main interests include procedures to improve nasal and sinus airway, chronic refractory sinusitis and longstanding sinus problems and eustachian tube disorders,” he said. “I have extensive experience in multispecialty care of patients with snoring, sleep apnea and tracheal airway issues as well as airway reconstruction.”

Dr. McKinnon, who once served as a staff ENT physician to the White House Medical Unit, is joining Meritus as the chair for the surgical department in addition to his ENT clinical practice. Prior to joining Meritus, he held positions as Distinguished Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas as well as medical director for surgical optimization at University of Texas Medical Branch Health System. He did a surgical internship and otolaryngology residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and spent five years as a U.S. Naval flight surgeon.

“I am the ‘E’ in ENT; I am interested in hearing and balance health,” Dr. McKinnon said. “It is my heart’s desire to improve hearing health in our community.”
