Meritus Health announced that its Nurse Residency Program has earned reaccreditation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Practice Transition Accreditation Program, recognizing excellence in supporting nurses as they transition into clinical practice.
The PTAP accreditation is awarded to programs that meet rigorous, evidence-based standards designed to ensure high-quality onboarding, professional development and retention of new nurses. According to the ANCC, accredited programs are part of a global community committed to advancing transition-to-practice education and improving patient care outcomes.
Meritus’ program was evaluated on its curriculum, outcomes and commitment to fostering clinical competence and confidence among newly licensed registered nurses.
“This achievement reflects the dedication of our educators, preceptors and leadership team to create a supportive, structured environment for nurses beginning their careers,” said Bethany Varner, nurse residency program coordinator. “We are proud to provide a program that not only meets national standards but truly invests in the growth and success of each resident.”
The accreditation affirms that the Meritus Nurse Residency Program aligns with best practices for transition-to-practice programs, including ongoing mentorship, skills development and performance evaluation. These elements are critical to helping new nurses adapt to the complexities of patient care while promoting safety and quality.
Earning PTAP accreditation places Meritus among an elite group of organizations worldwide recognized for excellence in nurse residency programming.
Meritus officials said the designation will enhance recruitment efforts and strengthen the organization’s ability to prepare highly skilled nurses to serve the community.
