Meritus Medical Center is Proud to Offer Single-Room Maternity Care

The Family Birthing Center at Meritus Medical Center is a special place where single-room maternity care provides privacy and family bonding.

What is "single-room maternity care?" When you have your baby at Meritus Medical Center, your room will be fully equipped for labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. Your room is decorated in soft, warm colors, soft lighting, and a rocking chair for you and your baby to enjoy, all in your own private setting. There’s also a bed for dad or another support person. Each room is specially designed to easily convert from a comfortable bedroom into a modern delivery room with all the skill, technology, and safety of the hospital right there with you.

After birth, your baby stays in the room with you, which allows you the freedom to see, touch, and hold your baby any time you want. Fathers and family members also develop an early bond with your new arrival. An experienced nurse will take care of you and your baby. Your nurse will instruct you and provide educational materials on mother and baby care.

The staff of the Family Birthing Center is dedicated to making the birth of your new baby a positive and rewarding experience. We offer several classes to help you with your pregnancy and childcare.

Family Birthing Center Tour

If you would like to familiarize yourself with the Family Birthing Center, please join us for a free tour on Sunday at 4:30pm. The tour begins in the Women and Children’s Welcome Center.

Breastfeeding Class

Breastfeeding Support Group

Join other moms-those who are currently breastfeeding for a comfortable, supportive get-together, where you can nurse your baby or find out how to breastfeed successfully.

When: 2 1/2-hour sessions, 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month

Labor of Love

This group offers support and comfort for parents who have lost their baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

When: 7:00pm of the first Wednesday of the month

Car Seat Installation Assistance

Schedule an appointment to learn how to safely and correctly install your child passenger safety seat. Due to COVID-19 in person appointments are not available right now. However, we do offer video appointments via our Video Car Seat Assistance Program (VCSAP) with a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. These online appointments provide education and guidance on car seat usage and limited installation assistance via WebEx. These appointments require email and internet access.
