Meritus Cardiac Rehabilitation
Personalized Programs Designed to Fight Heart Disease
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is a lifestyle modification and rehabilitation program for patients recovering from a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery or balloon angioplasty. Our program is nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
The program consists of a three day per week monitored exercise program supervised by a cardiac rehabilitation nurse. In addition to the exercise portion of the program, patients and family members, are encouraged to attend the education classes which focus on healthy lifestyle choices. Our goal is to improve the health and quality of life of cardiac patients.
Rehab Services
- Educational Classes – Educational classes help patients learn how to read food labels, understand good and bad fat, and watch sodium in their diet. Other classes include stress management, home exercise, and medication management.
- Supervised Exercise – During exercise sessions, patients are encouraged to incorporate weight resistance along with the use of bicycles, treadmills, stair steppers, arm ergometers, NuSteps, and ellipticals. Building muscle strength helps patients not only gain independence, but improve circulation and combat weight gain since most metabolism occurs at the muscle level.
