Ann-Marie N. Hugh, M.D., FACS
Dr. Hugh is the medical director for the Meritus Center for Breast Health.
She earned her medical degree from Howard University, College of Medicine
in the District of Columbia. Dr. Hugh completed her general surgery residency
at Howard University Hospital and her breast surgical oncology fellowship
at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in the District of Columbia. She
is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

Kristy C. Hose, M.S.N., ANP-BC, AGN-BC
Kristy Hose, M.S.N, ANP-BC, AGN-BC, is a nurse practitioner with more than twenty years of patient care experience, with nine of those years spent caring for patients with cancer. She is a board certified adult nurse practitioner and holds an Advanced Genetics certification through American Nurse Credentialing Center or ANCC. In addition, Kristy completed the intensive course in cancer risk assessment through City of Hope – Division of Clinical Cancer Genetics. Kristy focuses on holistic care and providing comprehensive, personalized care and has been instrumental in the creation of the high risk program at Meritus Health.
Nurse Navigator
If you’ve just received a breast cancer diagnosis, take comfort in knowing a professional oncology nurse navigator will be there to help guide you through the complexities of breast cancer. You may feel uncertain about what to do next.
How Breast Nurse Navigators Help:
- Educate patients about diagnosis, treatment plans/recommendations, and cancer care
- Facilitate appointments with entire oncology team, including: breast surgeon; medical oncologist; and radiation oncologist.
- Serve as a single point of contact
- Assess physical, emotional, financial and spiritual needs
- Eliminate barriers to care
- Connect patients with health professionals, including: certified genetic counselor; oncology social worker; registered dietician; physical therapist/ lymphedema specialist; rehabilitation services; mental health counselors; clinical research coordinator; and palliative care.
- Refer to community resources
- Guidance through the health care system ensuring care is coordinated.
