Meritus Medical Center Eases Visitor Restrictions for First Time in 2021
Meritus Medical Center will again welcome adult visitors back through its doors starting Wednesday, March 3, on a limited basis.
Visitor hours will be 3-8 p.m. only daily. All visitors must be at least 18 years of age unless he/she is the parent of a pediatric patient.
Non-COVID patients may have only one visitor at a time during these hours. Visitors for patients under investigation for COVID-19 or positive for the virus will only be allowed into the hospital under specific exceptions. These include patients with disabilities who require bedside care from a caregiver due to the specifics of their disability; patients undergoing emergency surgery related to a traumatic event; and pediatric patients.
Pre-arranged visitation must be made with a patient’s care team for the following units: obstetrics, end-of-life care and pediatric inpatients.
All visitors must enter Meritus Medical Center through the front lobby where they will be screened for flu-like symptoms. Visitors should only bring essential items into the hospital when they come. All visitors will be required to sign in and out.
Approved face masks are required for all visitors and must be worn at all times in the hospital, including in the patient’s room. Bandannas, gaiters and exhalation valve masks are among the face coverings not approved for visitors in the hospital. An approved face mask can be provided if needed.
Upon arrival on a unit, visitors should stop at the area’s front desk for further instructions and not go directly to the patient’s room. Patients coming into the emergency department may have a visitor accompany him/her initially, but only remain if it is during the designated visitor hours of 3-8 p.m.
Visitor restrictions remain in place for the Robin’s Cove dining area; inpatient behavioral health unit; outpatient services including same day services, IV infusion, wound care and all Meritus Medical Group practices with the exception of one visitor for prenatal visits at Meritus Women’s Health Specialists.
