2 South - Regional Infection Containment Wing

Meritus Medical Center’s new 2 South Regional Infection Containment Wing was recently completed in only 120 days, on time and on budget. Patients are already receiving treatment in the new care unit.

  • Reduction of construction punch list from 73 to 7 open items
  • Integration work relative to Nurse Call for seamless connectivity
  • Wednesday, Aug. 26 - Patients move from 5 West to 2 South

  • Sophisticated nurse call system- enhance connectivity of the patient and nursing staff
  • Functional headwall houses needed care items: gases, electric, data
    • Can support ventilator care if/when needed.
  • Cardiac monitoring: hardwired monitor and will have flexible a option to support mobility of patients monitored.
  • 8 rooms with corridor windows with integrated blinds
  • Test site for enhanced Communication based on lessons learned COVID
    • Smart 43” TV based on feedback from patients and to further enhance optimization of our electronic heath recordRIC Unit Nurses station
      • Ultimately could house digital teaching platform
      • Integration to allow patient view digital status board
    • iPads at each bedside- enhance patient/staff interactions, minimizing exposure time
  • Wing supports infection containment (20 negative pressure rooms) and normal air handling.
