Meet Pam Holtzinger, RN

“There are a startling number of children and women being physically and sexually abused in our community who are desperately in need of help,” says Pam Holtzinger, RN, the manager who leads Meritus Medical Center’s SAFE program. The SAFE program is a team of forensic nurses who help support the victims of sexual abuse within minutes of their being diagnosed in the emergency room.

While one would think their work would be emotionally draining, Pam’s team stays motivated knowing they bring compassion and great comfort to women and children at their most vulnerable—and they bring justice to the people who committed these crimes.

A certified emergency nurse, Pam has also been a forensic nurse since 1994, certified to perform exams on both adult and pediatric patients. She has worked with the Maryland Board of Nursing to regulate forensic nursing practice in the state, and with the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing to provide training opportunities to other forensic nurse examiners.
