COVID Treatment Options

COVID Outpatient Treatments

Meritus offers the approved treatments for COVID positive patients. If you or a loved one is diagnosed with COVID and are seeking treatment to improve symptoms and reduce the length of your sickness you have the following treatment options.

• Have your physician fill out the COVID Outpatient Treatment Referral Form, located here, in its entirety and fax to Meritus at 301-790-9229. Meritus will evaluate the information on the referral form and determine which of the available treatments are most appropriate for you.

• Your physician can also prescribe one of the oral treatment options (Paxlovid or Molnupiravir) to a local pharmacy where you can pick up the prescription for treatment. Not all patients qualify for these medications so you may want to consult your physician if you have questions.

Current approved and available treatments include:

• Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir (Paxlovid®)
• Molnupiravir
• Remdesivir

Patients who only qualify for Remdesivir treatment will want to be aware of the following information:

• Remdesivir is a 3-day infusion treatment. You will need to come to the Meritus Regional Infusion Center on 3 consecutive days to receive your full course of treatment. Each treatment will last approximately 2-3 hours.
• The hours for the Regional Infusion Center are 8 a.m. - 12 p.m., Monday through Friday
• Outpatient hospital-based infusion treatments require a 20% co-insurance payment from patients. This means that most patients will have to pay around 20% of the cost of the drug and infusion out of pocket. You would need to consult your insurance provider to find out the specific details for your plan.
