Meritus outpatient physical therapy team earns national recognition

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Meritus Health’s outpatient physical and occupational therapy team has been named a 2022 Human Experience Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey, a national recognition given to organizations whose patients are the happiest with their care.

“This recognition shows how hard we work to be centered around our patients, and getting to know them on an individual level,” according to Anna Peterson, clinical manager. “We are dedicated to always finding the best insight into how to continuously raise the bar in taking care of the communities we serve,” she added.

Meritus Health’s outpatient physical therapy team provides patients a continuity of care with therapists, and a 1:1 patient/therapist ratio.

Additionally, Peterson says they have worked hard to recruit the “best of the best” in the area, having a collective total of 475 years of experience, helping their patients work through challenges so they can return to daily life and activities following a variety of incidents including orthopedic injuries, stroke, traumatic brain injury and amputation.

“It’s because of the daily hard work and dedication of our teams that we are recognized for meeting the highest standards in patient experience. Our teams put patients and their families at the heart of all that they do, and it shows,” said Matthew Dicks, program manager. “When patients work with their therapists as a team, their therapy progress is positively impacted.”

Meritus Total Rehab Care offers multiple multi-disciplinary services (physical, occupational and speech therapies) in various specialty programs such as neurology and vestibular, aquatic therapy, lymphedema, orthopedics and pediatrics.

Later this month, the group will change its name to Meritus Physical Therapy.

“We will continue to provide the same great care, including physical therapy, occupational and speech therapy services, at the same locations,” Peterson said. “We want to make sure prospective patients can easily find the services they need and look forward to operating under the new name.”
