Meritus Health adds rheumatology to lineup of expert services
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Meritus Health has welcomed Dr. Francesca Okoye, bringing rheumatology to the health system.
“We are strategically growing along with our community, and expanding access to care in the fields where it is needed most,” said Miranda Ramsey, vice president of physician services.
One of the services that the health system identified as part of the growth plans is the need for rheumatologists in the region. While many patients have to wait weeks or even months for access to providers, this service will help to ease some of that strain.
“Coordinating care across specialties is the best kind of care because it’s designed with the patient’s individual needs in mind, and we are now providing rheumatology patients that same level of expert care,” Ramsey said.
Dr. Okoye joins Meritus from Geisinger Health System in State College, Pa. She earned her medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. She completed her internship and residency at the Stanford School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California, in addition to completing a fellowship in rheumatology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Dr. Okoye will see patients in the Robinwood Professional Center at Meritus Rheumatology, Suite 150. More information can be found at MeritusHealth.com.
