Meritus Health prepared as monkeypox cases rise in MD
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – With cases of monkeypox on the rise across the nation prompting the federal government to declare a public health emergency, Meritus Health’s caregivers have been preparing for, and developing safeguards, in the event of a local case.
“A huge part of preparing for any situation involving public health is sharing accurate information and resources,” said Maulik Joshi, Dr.P.H., president and CEO.
“Meritus has established an information page on our website and we encourage our neighbors to review the signs and symptoms of monkeypox. We are committed to updating this page regularly to keep our community informed,” he said.
Joshi pointed out that his teams quickly adjusted throughout the COVID pandemic to meet the needs of the community, and will apply that agility, as needed, to this situation.
“Our expert teams are prepared for this situation, and will continue to monitor our community’s needs,” he said.
Joshi encourages community members to follow the Meritus Health website resources located at MeritusHealth.com/monkeypox, for up-to-date information on risk factors, symptoms and what to do if you develop sores or lesions that could be monkeypox.
