Meritus Health administers its 300,000th COVID-19 test – enough people to fill Camden Yards baseball stadium more than six times!
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Almost 30 months after testing began during the pandemic crisis, Meritus Health has now surpassed performing 300,000 COVID-19 tests.
300,000 COVID tests is more than six-and-a-half full stadiums of people at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
To put that number further into perspective, 150,000 people live in Washington County, meaning that many outside the community came to Meritus Health for testing. People from more than thirty states were tested at Meritus Health.
“While COVID-19 today is thankfully not impacting our community the way it did during the multiple surges, testing remains a critical public health part of keeping our neighbors safe,” said Maulik Joshi, Dr.P.H., President & CEO.
“These numbers of tests for our community are truly astounding and shows how our healthcare heroes were, and are, always agile in meeting the needs of our region - easy access to testing is just one example,” Joshi said.
For COVID-19 testing, anyone who has been exposed or has symptoms, must call 301-790-8670 to schedule an appointment at Meritus Medical Plaza, 13620 Crayton Boulevard. Masks are required.
A patient seeking a test for a work requirement, travel requirement, or ahead of a medical procedure may walk-in to any Meritus Medical Lab location, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
