Healthy Washington County representatives leading the Go For Bold initiatives – including Dr. Mitesh Kothari and Maria Rubeling, initiative co-chairs – recently recognized several area organizations in the 2020 Healthy Business Challenge. Businesses were awarded for being able to engage 20 or more employees to register for the county’s “one million pounds lost this decade” challenge; for losing a combined weight of 100 or more pounds as a team; and/or for an average weight loss of ten pounds or more by each registered employee on the team. Winners included:

• Hagerstown YMCA
• Head Start of Washington County
• Meritus Health
• Potomac Case Management
• Washington County Commission on Aging
• Washington County Health Department
• Washington County Public Schools

For year two of the goal to reach one million pounds lost in our community by 2030, Healthy Washington County hopes to have 50 total community partners, 4,500 registered users and a total loss of 35,000 pounds.
