Joshi named 'Influential Marylander' in health care

Meritus Health President and CEO Maulik Joshi is on the 2021 list of “Influential Marylanders” selected by the editors of The Daily Record.

The Record, a multimedia news source based in Baltimore, included Joshi on the roster  of health care professionals for his contributions to the field and his leadership in the state.

“Maulik has led the incredible efforts of our area’s health system to respond to COVID-19 in our community this past year, continuously moving staff and resources forward whenever a need arose,” Greg Snook, chairman of the board of directors for Meritus Health, said in a news release. “With his direction, Meritus Health has stepped in well beyond treating patients at the hospital, to lead efforts in screening, testing, educating and vaccinating citizens in our region.”

Not long after Joshi joined Meritus, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Some of the milestones for the health system in response to this emergency under his leadership include:

  • Administering more than 60% of all COVID-19 vaccines in Washington County.
  • Conducting almost 147,000 COVID-19 tests, most through a drive-thru site.
  • Being designated as one of the first four regional infusion centers for monoclonal antibody therapy, providing 1,072 infusions to date.
  • Constructing a 20-bed regional infection containment unit in 120 days, on time and on budget, for emergent patient care work and future community health needs.

Joshi, who has more than 29 years of health care executive experience, has been with Meritus since November 2019.
