Meritus Health to Begin Scheduling County Residents, Ages 65 and Older, for COVID-19 Vaccine

Press Releases

Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 6, at noon, Meritus Health will start taking calls to schedule appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine for Washington County, Md., residents ages 65 and older.

“We have the supply, the capacity and the means to accelerate the CDC’s guidelines on who should receive the vaccine next, so we are going to do our part to reach the goal everyone has – to get as many people in our community vaccinated for this virus as safely and quickly as possible,” says Maulik Joshi, Dr.P.H., president and chief executive officer of Meritus Health.

The COVID-19 vaccine will continue to be offered to health care professionals and first responders – the phase 1A priority audience list set by the Maryland Department of Health - who began receiving the vaccine nearly three weeks ago.

“Currently almost one out of every five people in our area is testing positive for COVID-19 and we can’t normalize that,” says Joshi. “We have to do everything we can to stop the continuing spread of this virus.”

Details on the process to call and schedule appointments for the vaccines will be made available on and through local media outlets by midday Wednesday.
