Meritus Medical Center Eases Visitor Restrictions to Reconnect Patients and Families

Press Releases

Most Meritus Medical Center patients may now have one visitor during limited times daily as the hospital eases restrictions while keeping the safety of the community top of mind.

Starting Sept. 9, limited visitor hours have been set from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and again from 5-9 p.m. daily. Close family members of patients should first call to speak with their loved one’s nurse to check on potential restrictions that may keep them from coming to the hospital.

All patients receive a COVID-19 test on admission with the exception of planned surgical admissions that require the test 2-4 days before surgery. Patients who receive a negative COVID-19 test result will be able to have visitors in most instances.

All visitors must be age 18 or older unless he/she is the parent of a pediatric patient.

At this time, no visitors are permitted in the rooms of patients diagnosed with or being investigated for COVID-19. Additionally, outpatient services including same day services, IV infusion, wound care and the John R. Marsh Cancer Center are not open to visitors yet.

Visitors must enter through the main lobby of the hospital, where they will be screened for flu-like symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath. Anyone with visible symptoms or a fever will not be admitted to visit patients.

Facemasks are required for all visitors and must be worn at all times in the hospital.
