Meritus Medical Center implements visitor restrictions to prevent spread of flu

Meritus Medical Center has implemented a number of visitor restrictions to help prevent further spread of the flu, according to a news release from the hospital.

The restrictions include:

• Those who have flu symptoms such as a fever, sore throat, runny nose, muscle aches or a cough shouldn’t visit the hospital.

• Patients are restricted to two visitors at a time and the visitors must be at least 12 and have no flu symptoms.

• Patients and visitors who must be at the hospital for end-of-life situations or emergency care and have flu symptoms will be asked to wear a mask.

• Birthing tours in the women’s and children’s services areas are on hold until further notice.

The restrictions are in addition to steps being taken to evaluate anyone who exhibits symptoms or might have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.
