Meritus Medical Center Board of Directors Announces New CEO

HAGERSTOWN - Meritus Medical Center Board of Directors Chair Steven Hull today announced the selection of Maulik S. Joshi, Dr.P.H., as president and chief executive officer of Meritus Health. Dr. Joshi, a seasoned health care executive with more than 27 years of experience, will begin his new position in mid-November.

Dr. Joshi currently serves as executive vice president of integrated care delivery and chief operating officer at Anne Arundel Health System in Annapolis, Maryland. Prior to joining Anne Arundel, he served for eight years as associate executive vice president of the American Hospital Association and president of AHA’s Health Research & Educational Trust.

Dr. Joshi brings a unique skill set to Meritus, having focused most of his career not only on leadership in hospital operations and clinical quality, but also on improving the health of communities served. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with many of the nation’s leading hospitals in quality, safety, patient and family engagement and in bringing innovative and cutting-edge ideas to improve the delivery of health care. In announcing his selection, Mr. Hull stated, “We are excited that Dr. Joshi has agreed to join our Meritus team and anticipate that his leadership will accelerate our improvement in quality, safety and patient satisfaction, enabling us to serve our community even more effectively.”

Dr. Joshi holds both a doctorate in public health and a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan, as well as a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania.
