Through the generosity of donors, the Vascular Access Team at Meritus Medical Center was able to purchase a GE Sonogram. This aids our amazing staff in the placement of central lines and intravenous (IV) lines for patients that are considered difficult ‘sticks’. These patients are typically our most vulnerable such as the elderly, small children and those that are chronically ill. The success rate has been stunning and we are happy to share that now 91% of the time IV lines are being placed on first attempt!
