Meritus Healthcare Foundation Donates Modems
Through the generous support of our donors, Meritus Healthcare Foundation and Meritus Medical Center have provided 29 replacement modems for the LifeNet system as the modems we previously provided will be inoperable due to technology upgrades. The LifeNet system has modems on ambulances and chase vehicles in our community that transmit EKG and other life-saving information prior to the patient arriving at Meritus Medical Center.
The modems cost $39,933.00 and are a gift to the community. With this life-saving technology emergency physicians can then evaluate the data comparing it to an older EKG if on file, and activate the Cardiac Care team catheterization lab prior to the patient arriving at the hospital. These modems could assist in patients having less heart muscle damage and improves the outcomes of our patients, neighbors and friends.
