Student Artists Awarded During Trauma Safety Event

Elementary-school artists were recently recognized for their “Play it Safe” trauma safety drawings during an event sponsored by Meritus Health. First, second and third-place winners for each grade – kindergarten through fifth - were selected by health system staff members and awarded with certificates from Marc Kross, M.D., trauma surgeon-in-chief. Dr. Kross is pictured seated, along with Susie Burleson, director of trauma services at Meritus Medical Center, standing at left, and numerous teachers who came to support their students, pictured in the back row. Award winners attending the event and pictured include: Satya Komatlapalli and Elena Althouse, Fountaindale Elementary; Amelia Sprecher and Catrina Hunt, Boonsboro Elementary; Sophia Petruzzelli, Rockland Woods Elementary; Kailee Berger, Maugansville Elementary; Nitya Sharma, Lincolnshire Elementary; Kendal Lowry, Conococheague Elementary; Gabrielle Canlas, Emma K. Doub Elementary; Anna Jackson and Morgen Sanders, Pleasant Valley Elementary; Brianna Herrod, Potomac Heights Elementary; and Rosalee Reynolds, Pangborn Elementary. Winners unable to attend were Righlee Stickler, Old Forge Elementary; Zoeie Churchey, Emma K. Doub Elementary; Tiara Brantley, Pangborn Elementary; Arielly Hernandez, Boonsboro Elementary; and Jaiden Bowins, Salem Avenue Elementary.
