Pinwheels Planted to Keep Child Abuse Prevention Top of Mind

The Interpersonal Violence and Abuse Prevention or IVAP team of forensic nurse examiners at Meritus Medical Center planted 1,585 small pinwheels in front of the hospital at the beginning of April. Each pinwheel represented a reported case of child abuse in Washington County during 2015. Pictured with this year’s pinwheel display are Vicky Wright-Conner, B.S.N., RN, FNE A/P, SANE-A, IVAP coordinator at the hospital and Amber Vance, B.S.N., RN, FNE-A, one member of the IVAP team. This team is available every day, all day to help patients in times of crisis, providing screenings, examinations and treatment, evidence collection, assistance in locating safe shelter and other special care.
