Meritus Medical Center Wins Distinguished Hospital Award

Meritus Medical Center was recently notified of three awards it received from Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about hospitals. Hospitals are designated with five stars (better than expected), three stars (as expected) or one star (worse than expected) based on performance in specific conditions and procedures.

For 2016, Meritus Medical Center was awarded the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence™, the Orthopedic Surgery Excellence Award™ and America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Pulmonary Care Award™.

The hospital collected five stars in the areas of care for heart failure and pneumonia both in the hospital and after discharge; in care for hysterectomies, C-section deliveries, hip fracture treatment and back and neck surgeries in the hospital; and in care for diabetic emergencies, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeds and stroke 30 days after admission.

More than one million people a day use the Healthgrades websites to search, compare and connect with hospitals and physicians based on the most important measures when selecting a health care provider: experience, hospital quality and patient satisfaction. Healthgrades objectively evaluates hospital quality by measuring the actual and predicted number of patients who experienced complications or died during their hospital stay for a specific procedure or treatment. The mission is to "help consumers find the right doctor and the right hospital for the right care."
