Fred Thursfield was recently named the new executive director of Meritus Healthcare Foundation, the fundraising arm of Meritus Health. Mr. Thursfield brings 36 years of fundraising and management experience with academic, health care and scientific institutions to the position. In recent years, he served as the president of the Health Foundation for Life at Altoona Regional Medical Center in Altoona, Pa.; and the executive director of the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation in Bel Air, Md. Mr. Thursfield earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, is a certified fundraising executive or CFRE and has been a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals for eight years. The new executive director of the foundation reports directly to Joseph Ross, president and CEO of Meritus Health.
