Balance & Fall Prevention

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
  • One in four Americans aged 65+ falls each year.
  • Every 11 seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall; every 19 minutes, an older adult dies from a fall.
  • Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults.

Join us for a free interactive workshop led by Ellen Barr, DPT and Ethan Roberts, PT, from Meritus Total Rehab Care. This workshop theme focuses on the importance of balance and fall prevention. Learn about the:

  • Three components of balance (visual, vestibular and proprioceptive system)
  • Importance of strength and proper joint mobility in order to maintain an effective and efficient gait
  • Ability to react to different disturbances from others and the environment

Register before 6/21/19.

Workshop is free, but limited to 20 attendees.

Light refreshments served. All attendees will receive free balance assessment and resistance band.
