John R. Marsh Center for Clinical Research

Clinical trials are the heart of all medical advances. Clinical trials look at new ways to prevent, detect, or treat disease. The goal of clinical trials is to determine if a new test or treatment works and is safe. Clinical trials can look at other aspects of care, such as improving the quality of life for people with certain illnesses.

Our staff has more than 17 years of experience performing clinical trials. Recently, we’ve joined forces with UPMC Cancer Center, a program with University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, further developing our commitment to cancer research and care. This affiliation allows patients to access the vast resources of the UPMC Cancer Center, including its broad array of treatment protocols and clinical trials. Should your doctor think you may benefit, he or she may suggest that you take part in a clinical trial to treat your cancer with the following Oncology medical specialties:

  • Breast
  • Lung
  • Lymphoma
  • Colon

People participate in a clinical trial for a variety of reasons. Healthy volunteers say they participate to help others and to contribute to science. Clinical trials offer hope for many people and an opportunity to help researchers in finding better treatment for others in the future.
