Stay safe in a fun-filled summer

June 7, 2023 - Press Release

Summer can mean travel, new adventures, and, of course, fun! Amidst the excitement, it’s crucial for parents to put the health and safety of children at the top of their minds. Fortunately, there’s an easy way for parents to access virtual care right from their smartphone (or another electronic device).

MeritusNow allows patients to be seen quickly and easily, without the need to drive to a doctor’s office (or download an app). Meritus providers can help with symptoms such as bumps and bruises, insect bites, rashes, poison ivy, hives, strains and much more.

“It’s really a game-changer for parents, especially in the summer when we’re typically out of our normal routines,” said Christina Scuderi, CRNP, a MeritusNow provider. “Whether it's a heat-related illness, minor sunburn, or common allergies, we provide parents with expert advice and treatment recommendations,” she added.

As a proactive approach to the upcoming summer months, here are some tips for parents:

  • Hot weather increases the risk of dehydration. Make sure your children drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, even if they don’t feel thirsty.
  • Prioritize water safety and consider enrolling your children in swimming lessons to improve their water skills and basic knowledge of water safety.
  • Mosquitoes, ticks, and other insects thrive during the summer. Protect your children from insect bites and tuck their pants into socks when spending time in wooded or grassy areas.
  • Before your children run off to the playground, check the equipment for potential hazards such as broken or sharp edges, hot surfaces, or loose bolts.
  • Fireworks are often a highlight of summer fun, but it’s best to leave them to the professionals. Keep a safe distance!

If you miss a spot with the SPF and the burn looks concerning, or if you need that bug bite checked out or have a frantic case of swimmer’s ear – don’t worry! MeritusNow allows parents flexibility and quick access to care.

As we embrace the joy and freedom that summer brings, prioritizing our family's health and safety is paramount. MeritusNow serves as an invaluable tool, granting parents the ability to access prompt care when needed.

“By harnessing the power of MeritusNow, parents can ensure a safe and enjoyable summer for their families. Let's embrace the power of technology and take advantage of virtual medical care to make the most of this summer season. Stay safe, stay healthy, and have a wonderful summer,” Scuderi said.
