Meritus Hosts Learning Event ahead of Veterans Day

Veterans Day is an opportunity to commemorate the service of all who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

At Meritus Health, an employee resource group dedicated to better supporting the needs of patients who have served as well as Meritus employees who have served, the Veterans ERG, hosted a learning event ahead of the federal holiday to highlight some of the opportunities for better supporting and caring for Veterans in our community.

At the event, the mental health needs of Veterans were highlighted – including the higher rates of depression, anxiety, PTSD and substance abuse.

The group is advocating that Meritus employees continue to help reduce stigmas around seeking help for mental health needs, and that community members use Veterans Day as an opportunity to thank Veterans and to encourage they put their health needs at a forefront.
