When is home healthcare appropriate?
In the past, home health services existed primarily to help with post-surgical recovery. However, our role has expanded. We often provide care for a short period of time before transitioning clients to the appropriate long-term services. Our clients may have recently been discharged from the hospital, or they may be coming out of rehabilitation services or a skilled nursing facility. Some of our patients simply need assistance with activities of daily living to enable them to remain in their homes for as long as possible.

Who pays for home healthcare services?
Medical plans cover many home healthcare services, and we take Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial health insurance plans. In the event that a service you’d like is not covered by insurance, we can arrange a payment schedule. For families who cannot afford our services, we’ll help you apply for assistance through the hospital’s charity care program. We’ll be happy to help you determine the insurance coverage for the services you need, and to work with you on non-covered costs.

Are there age guidelines for home health services?
We help clients at any age, from newborn infants to adolescents and adults, to the elderly. If you or a family member would benefit from our services, age is not a barrier.

Is it safe to allow a stranger into my home to provide care?
We have taken many precautions to ensure our clients’ safety. All of our staff have been through both a criminal background check and reference check, and we provide on-site supervision. These are long-term health system employees whom we know very well. We have found that despite their initial caution, our clients love the employees we send to help them.
