Cancer Rehabilitation
The John R. Marsh Cancer Center, in collaboration with Total Rehab Care,
addresses the needs of cancer patients experiencing symptoms as a result
of cancer or cancer treatment. A multidisciplinary team of physical therapists,
occupational therapists, speech therapists, pharmacists, nurses, radiation
therapists, dietitians, nurse navigators and social workers help identify
cancer patients and survivors with symptoms including:
Fatigue
Pain
Weaknesses
Cognitive gaps
Postural changes
Balance and gait problems
Speech difficulties
Swallowing issues
We understand the personal aspects of coping with cancer and want patients
to achieve a quality of life during and after treatment. The oncology
rehabiliation program helps patients feel self-empowered and gives them
the support and guidance they need to move beyond a cancer diagnosis.
A physician referral from a primary care physician or oncologist is needed
to enroll in the program. For more information, contact Total Rehab Care
at 301-714-4025.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed or long finished with treatment, we can help
We serve all survivors in need, whether they are beginning treatment, finished
with treatment, or experiencing late effects or unresolved issues from
long-ago treatment. Our program is open to everyone no matter the prognosis,
cancer stage or phase of recovery. Newly diagnosed patients may want to
increase their strength and endurance and prevent future medical problems;
survivors living with cancer as a chronic disease may come to us for help
managing treatment-related conditions; and individuals who are cured or
in remission may enroll in our program with the goal of boosting their
immune systems so that they can heal as well as possible.
